The latin name of Scampi is Nephrops norvegicus, where “Nephrops” means “Kidney Eyes”, which is in reference to the Scampi’s kidney shaped eyes.

Common size of Scampi is between 20 and 25 cm from eyes to tail for males and 19 cm for females. The tail can be up to 8 cm long for both males and females.

Scampi likes eating sea worms, small bottom dwelling fish, and anything that swims to the bottom. Surprisingly, Scampi is also major eater of jellyfish which makes up a large portion of its diet.
