Major Farming Areas

Our Senegal Sole is farmed in the Reykjanes region of Iceland in the Southwest.

Did you know...

The name senegal sole derives from the latin word Solea, meaning sandal; referring to the flat shape of the fish.

Did you know...

The average size of Senegal Sole farmed in Iceland is in the range of 45 to 60 cm.

Did you know...

Senegal Sole likes eating bottom dwellers such as crabs, sea worms, and some small finfish.

Farming Method

After growing for about a year and reaching 350 grams, the Senegal Sole is released into artificial rivers which are heated to 35°C which is then mixed in with seawater. This process allows the farming to best mimic the desired water temperature and environment as it would in the wild and leads to healthier and stronger fish as a result.
